Brian Mearns is a Director of Haymarket Risk Management Ltd, a specialist consultancy firm based in the City of London, which provides global services in fraud prevention, detection and investigation, corporate, physical and personal security, risk mitigation and investigative due diligence. Brian is primarily responsible for major projects. His wealth of experience in identifying major consulting projects and successfully orchestrating winning proposals enables Haymarket to compete at the highest level.
Having started his career in HM Customs and Excise in Scotland where he worked as an investigator, Brian embarked on an international career which resulted in him working in over 40 countries worldwide. This included a 4 year secondment to the Turks and Caicos Island as Deputy and subsequently, Comptroller of Customs. This was followed by a regional Caribbean role based in Barbados for a further four years as a Customs advisor to the Anglophone countries in the Caribbean, Central and South America.
Brian then worked on a two year assignment based in Ljubljana, Slovenia with the Customs and Tax Administrations of Central and Eastern Europe to assist the EU accession countries prepare their customs and tax legislation and processes for EU enlargement in 2004 and 2007.
After a 10 year period overseas, Brian returned to the UK as a senior project manager for a consulting company in London, engaged primarily in Aid Development, where he gained vast experience in developing the consultancy business and managing international donor funded projects.
Brian has presented at International conferences on anti-corruption strategies and tackling contraband through effective legislation, developing a wide network of consultants across many sectors.
His role at Haymarket is to support the development of the business through effective implementation of major projects providing risk management and fraud investigation services to both the public and private sectors. He continues to develop an extensive network of consultants as Haymarket extends its business into new sectors.
